Ink (Paper Gods, #1)June 25th
I looked down at the paper, still touching the tip of my shoe. I reached for it, flipping the page over to look.

But when she sees the things he draws start moving, there’s no denying the truth: Tomo has a connection to the ancient gods of Japan, and being near Katie is causing his abilities to spiral out of control. As if that’s not bad enough, her mother’s reappearance among the Syrena turns the two kingdoms—Poseidon and Triton—against one another. Or should she risk it all and reveal herself—and her Gift—to save a people she’s never known?

Ash and Natalie are just starting to build a life together when things in the United Sentry States go from bad to worse. Ash and Natalie find themselves at the center of turmoil when dictator Purian Rose threatens Natalie’s life unless Ash votes in favor of Rose’s Law—a law that will send Darklings and other dissenters to a deadly concentration camp known as the Tenth.

When Ash can’t bring himself to trade Natalie’s life for those of millions of Darklings, her fate is sealed. Enter Elijah Theroux, the handsome Bastet boy Natalie once saved from her mother’s labs, where he’d been experimented on and tortured. It was his venom the Sentry used to create the lethal Golden Haze, the heart of the government conspiracy that led to Black City’s uprising and Ash’s rebirth as the Phoenix, the face of the rebellion. Elijah is back and Ash doesn’t like him; it’s clear he’s taken with Natalie, and Ash fears she may have feelings for him as well.

But Elijah also may have the answer to taking down Purian Rose for good—a powerful weapon called the Ora. Ash, Natalie and Elijah just have to escape Black City undetected to find it. But fleeing the city and finding this weapon (if it even exists) are easier said than done, and the quest could tear Ash and Natalie apart, even pushing them into the arms of others.

Alex Sheathes

Alex - alex-sheathes Fan ArtAlex Sheathes, also so known as Alex Warren, is our hero in Delirium. He has caramel colored skin with bright amber eyes that burn like fire and golden hair, like leaves in the autumn when they are turning, with one strand that curls down over his left eye. His eyebrows are like perfect brush strokes on a canvas portrait. Alex was never cured but has a small, dark, three pronged scar behind his left ears like those who are cured. He does little things like winks constantly, can maintain a smile for a long time, chews on the corner of his lips when nervous, and chews on the inside of his lips in contemplation. Alex has all the qualities any girl would want in a guy: he’s a great listener, he likes poetry and Shakespeare, isn’t judgmental, is sincere and calm, and he loves to laugh and wink. His voice has a teasing and winking quality to it. His skin always smells a bit like the ocean. He has a chest and shoulders that are like chiseled stones. Alex has the most beautiful hair and eyes Lena has ever seen: his eyes are almost pure gold, they glow in the moonlight and shift like an animal; his hair turns white when caught in the sun. He was never cured or matched, is an Invalid (born in the Wilds) and was never evaluated. He moved to Portland when he was ten after living with numerous people in the Wilds due to not having both parents to take care of him (his mom died after his birth and his dad never knew he had a son). Alex is a student at the University of Portland and works when not in school.

Jace Wayland

Jamie Campbell Bower as Jace Wayland of The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones
Okay so I wasn’t quite satisfied with my pastel portait of Jace… So I did a digital makeover. Now this is more like it!
Soft pastels & Photoshop
-> PREVIOUS VERSION
-> TIME LAPSE VIDEO
September 2012

This is beautiful - great job!Jace Wayland is another of our favorite heroes from the Mortal Instruments. He is about five feet 5' 11" and is tremendously beautiful. Jace has dark and curly golden hair with golden eyes to match. His only flaw is the slight chip in one of his front teeth. Anyone who’s read the Mortal Instruments knows how obnoxious Jace can be. His parents were Stephen and Celine Herondale. While in his mother’s womb, Jace’s blood was tempered with by Valentine Morgenstern and when Celine committed suicide Valentine rushed to save the baby whom he’d worked so hard on. That, my friends, is why Jace has a bit more Angel blood than the average Nephilim and has those special abilities, like jumping thirty feet in the air, of his. Jace was raised as the son of Michael Wayland, whose place Valentine took by murdering him. He was sent to live with the Lightwoods when he was ten. Before he met Clary, Jace was confident in his charms and thought himself to be the best Shadowhunter. Let’s not forget his extreme arrogance. At this point, you can imagine Isabelle and Alec’s shock when Jace proved it was possible for him to love someone other than himself. Jace still loved Clary – and not in the brotherly way – when they were tricked into believing that they were siblings. Because of this, he believes he’s truly a monster and pursues his feelings for Clary. In the series, Jace’s names changes quite a few times: Wayland, Morgenstern, Herondale, and Lightwood. So, yeah, Jace might look like a jerk and a total bad*** on the outside but that’s what we love the most about him. Those runes he’s covered in and his love for Clary pulls us in more.

Here are some of his quotes from the series:

"No, I’m just a very naughty boy. I do all sorts of bad things. I kick kittens. I make rude gestures at nuns." — Jace Wayland, City of Ashes

"When life gives you lemons, make lemonade, and then throw it in the face of the person who gave you the lemons until they give you the oranges you originally asked for." – Jace Wayland, City of Bones

Inquisitor: "Then you're aping him. Valentine was one of the most arrogant and disrespectful men I've ever met. I suppose he brought you up to be just like him." Jace: "Yes", unable to help himself, "I was trained to be an evil mastermind from a young age. Pulling the wings off flies, poisoning the earth's water supply—I was covering that stuff in kindergarten. I guess we're all just lucky my father faked his own death before he got to the raping and pillaging part of my education, or no one would be safe." – City of Ashes

Jace:"Can I help you with something?" Clary:"Those girls on the other side of the car are staring at you." Jace:"Of course they are,'he said, 'I am stunningly attractive." – Jace Wayland, City of Bones

If you haven’t read the Mortal Instruments then you should go to the nearest Barnes & Noble and grab a copy of each book.

Edward Cullen

Edward Anthony Masen Cullen was born on June 20, 1901 in Chicago. After the death of his mortal family, Elizabeth and Edward Masen, to the Spanish Influenza, he was changed by the handsome Dr. Carlisle Cullen on his sick bed. Although Edward looks calm and collected on the outside, we see how tortured he truly is when he falls for Isabella Swan. Edward, as we all know, is incredibly beautiful with unusual bronze hair, high cheekbones, straight nose, strong jawlines, and perfect lips. His eyes are topaz when he has fed, on animal blood for the Cullens are “vegetarians”, and onyx when he is hungry. As a human Edward’s eyes were emerald green. He is forever physically 17 and stands at 6’2. When he meets Bella, Edward’s over- protective nature and devotion to his love and family is shown. That fact he can read minds just makes him sexier and more lovable.

Book Review #7: Delirium by Lauren Oliver

Delirium (Delirium, #1)Glbbb's book recommendations, liked quotes, book clubs, book trivia, book lists (read shelf)
They say that the cure for Love will make me happy and safe forever.

And I've always believed them.

Until now.

Now everything has changed.

Now, I'd rather be infected with love for the tiniest sliver of a second than live a hundred years smothered by a lie.

Lena looks forward to receiving the government-mandated cure that prevents the delirium of love and leads to a safe, predictable, and happy life, until ninety-five days before her eighteenth birthday and her treatment, when she falls in love.

Lena Tiddle, also known as Lena Haloway, lives with her aunt, uncle and two cousins. They live in a futuristic America where love is a disease called Amor Delirium Nervosa. When teenagers turn eighteen, they go through a procedure that “cures” them of the disease. This is after they are evaluated which is what they must have done right before graduating high school. The Evaluations determines what job the person being evaluated will have and who they will be Matched with.
There is a mishap on the day of Lena’s evaluation: somehow, a horde of cows are allowed into the room she is being evaluated in and she is interrupted. She sees a boy on top of a desk laughing at the fiasco; this was her first time ever meeting Alex.
Lena has to redo the Evaluations a few days later, everything goes well, and she gets the name of three guys who could potentially be matched with her.
While on a run one afternoon, Lena and her best friend, Hana, sneak through the gates of a government facility, the one in charge of deliveries to be exact. The girls are caught by a security guard who happens to be the guy she saw on the desk; he pretends to never have met her which angers her.
A few days later, Hana invites Lena to an illegal party that takes place after curfew. Lena sneaks out before curfew and attends the party where she hears the strangest yet hypnotic music. She meets Alex again but their conversation doesn’t turns out as well as planned due to Alex’s denial of seeing Lena. By the end of the night, Alex hints to Lena that she should meet in at the Black Cove the following night but he’s a no show. Lena and Alex meet up at another Part y that Lena shows up to for in order to warn Hana that Regulators, people who patrol for rule-breakers, are on the way but she is too late and the Regulators arrive with dogs the moment she gets there, Alex is the one who saves her after she’s injured.
While hiding out, Alex ends up telling Lena everything about himself and the two grow closer and closer from then on. They know that their time together is limited for Lena’s Procedure is only a couple of weeks away but they make the best of it. Complications arise when Lena receives the name of the person she’s matched with. From there, whether or not things go uphill for them is for you to find out and you to know.
My Thoughts
I’m going to be completely honest is saying that I loved Delirium, but it isn’t one of my favorite books. The plot and setting is amazing and orchestrated very well but the ending….let’s just say it had my blood boiling.
Lena was annoying. She focused too much on the consequences for breaking the rules rather than enjoying herself and being with the guy she liked. If I had a guy like Alex, the last thing on my mind would be stupid consequences. She was fickle in her decisions and made them based on her current feelings and that – my friends – did not bode well with me.
Alex, on the other hand, happens to be the love of my life, along with others. He loved Lena and always put her wants and needs before his, no matter the result. He had too little a regard for his safety, I didn’t like that either.
The book is a dystopian, so that enabled me to like it way better than I thought. It took me a while to start Delirium; I didn’t think it was worth all the hype and I am proud to say that I was wrong.

If you’re like me, you need to get your stuff together and buy a copy of this book. It’s soooo Bootastic.
